A clingy child is hard to deal with, especially when you have a lot on your plate. This behavior is normal though, and there are many reasons why children are clingy. It could be because of their temperament, or some major changes in their life that make them wary and insecure, or that they feel like they’re not getting enough from you.
This clinginess becomes even harder to deal with when it’s time for your kiddo to attend Maple Lawn Montessori of Manassas Park. We see a lot of parents struggle with this problem at our Manassas Park daycare, so we have a few tips on how you can deal with your child and make them a little less clingy. Take a look:
- Understand your child’s personality.
An introverted child may find it hard to interact with their classmates in their Montessori Preschool in Virginia. Don’t forget to listen to their concerns. They need to know that you understand them.
- Make them feel safe.
Tell them where you’re going instead of sneaking out. This builds trust between you and your child.
- Build their independence at home.
You can have them help you with the dishes or doing chores.
- Let them play by themselves.
Start by playing with them for the first few minutes then gradually stopping and letting them play by themselves.
These won’t work right away, but if you persevere and follow through consistently then the struggles of dropping them off to their Montessori School in Manassas Park, Virginia will also lessen and eventually disappear. Good luck!
